Fitzroy Primary School is an inner city school that was established in 1855. The school has a long and proud history of catering for local families and the wider community. Located on two connected sites the school has expansive play areas on both sites. The Napier St site houses the Years 3-6 students and the George St site houses the Years Prep-Year 2 students. The school incorporates a large Art and Craft room, a well resourced Library, a Music room, a Kitchen Garden  program, an ICT lab, and a large indoor space that is used for whole school events, assemblies and indoor sports activities. The school also has an After School Hours Care program that is operated very successfully by the Try Youth organization.

Fitzroy Primary School is focused on providing a stimulating and high quality learning environment that engages students and caters for a range of learning styles. Our main focus is in the development of Literacy and Numeracy skills but we provide quality programs in all curriculum areas. We aim to cater for all learning needs and provide the opportunity for all students to achieve their personal best throughout the curriculum.

Fitzroy Primary School places great value on students developing personal responsibility and community responsibility in their approach to school life. Students play an important role in the school through their involvement in our student leadership groups. These include Junior School Council members , the Student Advisory Group and House Captains.

The school believes in strong partnerships with families and the local community. Our strong and enthusiastic School Council play an important role in the school.  Parents participate as classroom helpers, in social activities, in fundraising activities and as helpers at the Fitzroy Market which is held in the school grounds once a month.

Fitzroy Primary School is a school committed to continually developing and growing with the goal being the best educational outcomes for all our students.
