Enrolments

Enrolments are now open.

Enrolling with us is reasonably straightforward. As a government school we strive to accept every young person who wants to attend our school. We absolutely love the diversity that this approach brings to our student community.

Fitzroy Primary School is a school of choice within our community. Our Designated Neighbourhood Boundary indicates the area of which families may enrol their child. Whilst enrolments may be taken from outside the zone, there is no guaranteed place for students.

We recommend that you book in for a school tour in term one or two and enrol your child by mid year to secure a place in our Foundation transition sessions for parents and children. These typically take place in early November.

Enrolment Form

Copies of the following should be handed into the office or emailed to fitzroy.ps@education.vic.gov.au:

  • The fully completed & signed ‘Form to Enrol in a Victorian Government School’.
  • The child’s Birth Certificate.
  • The child’s Immunisation Record
Paper copies are available upon request from the office.

Foundation (Prep) Enrolments

The Department of Education has a statewide Foundation (Prep) enrolment timeline.

The timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child into Foundation (Prep) at a Victorian government primary school, including Fitzroy Primary School.

To start primary school in the following school year, your child will need to turn 5 years old by 30 April of that year. Schooling is compulsory for children who have turned 6 years old.

You will be able to apply to enrol your child in a Victorian government primary school from the start of Term 2 the year before starting.

Steps to enrol your child in Foundation (Prep) for the following school year:

  1. Download the ‘Information for Prospective Parents’ document above.
  2. Use Find My School to locate your designated neighbourhood school (local school) and other nearby government schools.
  3. Book a school tour – see ‘Tours & Discovery’ page.
  4. Complete the enrolment form above and provide required documentation.
  5. The school will send you a ‘Confirmation of Placement’ when and if the enrolment has been approved.
  6. Take part in enrolment information and transition sessions during Term 4.
  7. The child will start Foundation (Prep) on the first day of next year.
