CLIL: Content and Language Integrated Learning
Fitzroy Primary School embraces the CLIL approach, where both English and French are used to teach content and develop language skills. Through inquiry-based units, students learn subjects such as Mathematics, Science, and Integrated Studies in French, making language acquisition a natural part of their learning journey.
Using an immersion model, students are surrounded by French from the beginning of their schooling. Teachers use explicit, targeted instruction in engaging, real-life contexts to help students quickly acquire vocabulary and begin responding in French. As students progress, expectations grow, and teaching is tailored to meet each childโs individual learning needs
