Through games-based play, students learn to coach and mentor each other.
Our Physical Education and Sport program is guided by the Victorian Curriculum: Health and Physical Education, with a strong focus on developing students’ physical literacy, personal wellbeing, and social capabilities.
Through structured weekly lessons, students build fundamental movement skills, improve physical fitness, and engage in a broad range of physical activities including athletics, team sports, dance, and cooperative games. Our program is inclusive and developmentally appropriate, supporting all students to participate confidently and safely.
In alignment with curriculum outcomes, students learn to:
- Demonstrate movement skills and strategies in a variety of physical activities.
- Apply rules, fair play, and ethical behaviour in individual and team settings.
- Reflect on personal strengths and set goals for improvement.
- Work collaboratively, showing respect and empathy in group activities.
Beyond the classroom, students have opportunities to represent Fitzroy Primary in inter-school competitions, participate in house events, and engage with local sporting organisations. These experiences foster a sense of belonging, resilience, and school pride.
Our aim is to empower students to lead active, healthy lives and to value physical activity as an essential part of their overall development.
